Dane Damir Hadzovic (13-5) will face Brazil’s Renato Moicano (13-3-1) in Brazilian capital of Brasilia on the UFC Fight Night 170 card on March 14.

The bout provides Hadzovic the opportunity to bounce back from his loss at the hands of Christos Giagos last June. The unanimous decision defeat, which came on the Gustafsson v Smith card in Sweden, snapped Hadzovic’s two fight winning streak.

Hadzovic’s opponent Moicano had an even worse 2019 as he was TKO’ed by smaller men in both of his fights: first by compatriot Jose Aldo and then by Chan Sung Jung aka the Korean Zombie.  Nordic fans may remember that the Brazilian beat Finland’s Tom Niinimäki back in 2015.

However, the Dane will still have to be wary as the fight will be in Moicano’s hometown of Brasilia. Moreover, the only other time Hadzovic fought in Brazil (against Alan Patrick in 2018), he was beaten.

Moicano, who had been fighting at featherweight until now, is moving up to 155lbs. The move up makes sense for the Brazilian on multiple fronts as at 5’11 he is naturally built for the lightweight division. It also means that he gets to make his division debut in front of his home fans of Brasilia.

Moicano v Hadzovic becomes the 13th confirmed bout for the UFC Brasilia card, which will be headlined by another lightweight affair featuring Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira.
