MMAViking has confirmed from the Cage promotion that Sweden’s top ranked Assan Njie has withdrawn from his fight at the Cage 18 event this Saturday. GBG MMA’s Njie was suppose to challenge Finland’s reigning champion Ville Räsänen for the Cage welterweight belt but according to his manager Njie now has hand injury that prevents him from fighting.

Earlier this week MMAViking stumbled into information that Njie may be in the USA along with his fellow GBG fighter Sirwan Kakai who currently is at the American Top Team.

Assan Njie will be replaced by Lithuanian Valdas Valancius (11-8-2 ) of The Knight of Plunge gym.

MMA Viking did receive a response from Assan Njie today regarding his status :

A couple of month ago I got a fracture in 2 of my fingers. It healed but last week I damaged the old injury again and the finger got really swollen. And I tought it would not be any problem after a couple of days. But now I realized that I can’t close my hand in the MMA glove. The doctor says I have to rest and it will be good in 10 days.

I have trained so hard for this fight and I am in great shape so I hope I will get a new fight as soon as possible.
