Sparks are going to fly in the main event on Saturday. MMA Viking talked with Thiago Silva in an exclusive interview. When asked about facing the Swedish star, Alexander Gustafsson, in his hometown, Thiago Silva says “It’s not going to make a difference. He can have all the people screaming his name, but once we get in the cage it’s just me and him.”

Silva Expects a "War" with Gustafsson

“I’m so happy right now.” says Silva who is upbeat and wearing a smile as he is interviewed by all the local and international media. Although he hasn’t been in action for a year, the fighter says “I have been training hard for one year.”

When asked about his fighting style, and his approach to the fight, he responds “I go to fight hard. I don’t like to back-up. I’m to move forward always.” The Brazilian who has been training BJJ since he was 7 years old says, “Nobody knows, but I’m much better on the ground than standing.” says Silva, who emphasizes that he didn’t start training striking until 18 years old.

Silva seems unfazed by the situation and making a return after a PED-linked suspension. In a return to the cage, he says “I was like a kid in a candy store” when his management said that he had the bout.

“I don’t know too much about him, but I know he’s a tough guy” says Silva about Gustafsson, but he seems prepared and getting his game face on for the main event on Saturday.

“If he wants to fight on the feet, let’s do it.” says Silva as he talks about the bout. In a prediction, his final words are that “It is going to be a war.”
