Iceland’s Birgir Tómasson (3-0) and Diego Bjorn Valencia (3-2) fought at FightStar Championship 14 in the UK on Saturday. The Mjolnir MMA fighters both impressed in their respective pro MMA bouts by finishing their opponents. “I’m fairly happy with my performance, there are still a lot of things that I need to work on, like my takedown defence and my ground game.” says the undefeated “Biggi Box” to MMA Viking following the win.

Tómasson, who turned pro last February, remained undefeated in his pro career after winning his fight via first-round TKO, climbing to 3-0 as a pro. This is his third consecutive TKO/KO finish. His opponent, Stelio Theo (0-1), is a former amateur champion under FightStar Championship and was making his pro debut.

Valencia’s win brought a halt to his two-fight skid as he displayed his excellent grappling ability to pick up his third career submission victory. His opponent, Dawid Panfil (1-1), beat Iceland’s Ingthor Valdimarsson in his last bout, so the victory was a bit of payback for his fellow countryman.

“My opponent was no joke, so I’m very happy with the outcome.” – Tómasson

He had me in a bad spot at one point after he took me to the ground, but I managed to get back up, and after that, I took control of the fight with all sorts of attacks which ended with a right-hand straight shot to the body.” continues Tómasson.  “There is a lot of mental support when you have teammates fighting on the same card as yourself, we’re in this together all the way.”

“Fightstar Championship is one of the best shows I have ever been on, everything very professional and the fighters were well taken care of.”

Birgir may not be waiting on a fight for too long following his most recent win as he is keen to keep active.  “I might have a fight in Lithuania after one month, at King of the Cage, I will know for sure later this week, I am hoping that I will be moving up to some of the bigger shows sometime soon. Now that I’ve got a pro record of 3-0, with all wins by KO/TKO in the first round.”

It wasn’t a clean sweep on the night for the Iceland fighters on Saturday as teammate Sigurjón Rúnar Vikarsson was beaten in his amateur bout on the night.
