Lucio Linhares Ends Career on High with FF 33 Win

Brazilian born Lucio Linhares has mixed emotions after his last fight, which took place last night in Helsinki, Finland at Fight Festival 33. The Spartan won by submission over American Logan Clark with a second round submission, but he expressed both feelings of sadness being the last time he will fight and gratification of winning over a tough opponent. “Outside the ring, but not inside the ring anymore”, says Linhares after his farewell match.

Linhares ends his career on a two fight win streak. He beat American Jake Doerr back in October of 2012 at Fight Festival 32, plus his win last night over Logan Clark was even more impressive. Clark had built up a 4 fight winning streak, including a win last year over Jake Doerr, before being stopped by Linhares.

The Spartan’s record will stand at 19 wins and 8 losses. Before moving to Finland, he was known as a veteran of Nordic promotions such as Carelia Fights, Fight Festival, and Shooto Finland – Chicago. He beat Swede Tor Troeng and Matti Makela in the bouts, plus Finn Toni Valtonen.

He went on to fight in M-1, Cage Warriors and the UFC, facing such fighters as Rousimar Palhares, Yushin Okami, and Xavier Foupa-Pokam.

As he states in the post-fight video interview with Häkkiradio that he will focus on taking his fighters to the next level by “concentrating on being a coach”, and will stay very involved in the MMA scene through Finland United.
