UFC 157 takes place this Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The event is headlined by the first women’s bout in the UFC ever in Ronda Rousey versus Liz Carmouche. Here is our thoughts how the most important fights on the card look from betting perspective.

Ronda Rousey vs Liz Carmouche: Undefeated Rousey is a gigantic favorite over challenger Carmouche. Rousey, a former Judo olympic, brings sensational grappling skills into the Octagon. Challenger Carmouche is a powerful grinder who is skilled in all areas of the game. Rousey’s striking and ability to take punishment is still untested. If Carmouche can avoid the clinch, she might be able to keep the fight on the feet and put her hands on Rousey.

Lyoto Machida vs Dan Henderson: Hendo missed his title shot against Jon Jones due to a knee injury and now he gets thrown to a difficult fight with karate sniper Machida. Hendo lives by his gameness and powerful right hand that has it’s own nickname “H-bomb”. 42 year old Henderson has gotten some of his biggest wins in last few years but the mileage is beginning to show.  Hendo is a big puncher who is always dangerous but we believe Machida’s pinpoint striking will be too much for the American veteran.

Josh Koscheck vs Robbie Lawler: Badboy Koscheck meets an interesting UFC returnee in Lawler who has been fighting in StrikeForce for the last few years. This will be also Lawler’s first fight in the welterweight division since 2004 when he lost to Nick Diaz. Like Dan Henderson also Lawler is a big puncher with many good qualities and few weaknesses. While Lawler is a solid allrounder, grappling has never been a strength of his. Koscheck on the other hand excels in the grappling department whenever he decides to use his renowned wrestling skills. Koscheck is predictable on the feet which opens up opportunities for Lawler to put his heavy hands in good use. There’s a good chance that Koscheck outgrapples Lawler for a decision but Lawler at 4.15 (+315) sounds tempting.

Anton Kuivanen vs Michael Chiesa: Finland’s Kuivanen opened up at 2.40 which we thought was a good offer but now Kuivanen’s odds have gone up to 2.60 (+160). The reports from Kuivanen’s training camp from Florida tell us that the Finn is on a war path and ready to pull the trigger on Saturday.
