Aleksi Toivonen (5-0, 1 NC) didn’t get his hand raised versus Oleg Lichkovakha (4-1) at CAGE 39 in Helsinki after getting caught by punches in the first round of his April 29th bout. However, today the Suomen Vapaaotteluliitto, the Finland commission overseeing the event, announced that the Russian-based fighter tested positive for three drugs on the WADA banned list.

The organization announced that both the 21 year old Lithuanian born flyweight would receive a 4 year ban, and both his bouts against Toivonen in April and following bout also in Finland against Binh Son Le (6-2, 1 NC) in August at M-1 Challenge 82 have been turned into No Contests.

“It came as a surprise. In my mind it doesn’t change what happened in the event. I walked in the cage, suffered a defeat and had to deal with that after the fight.” says the Lahden Gentai to MMA Vikin gthat officially will return to his undefeated status.

“I’m glad that justice is served. A tleast it shows to all fighters coming to Finland, that we have an active and working anti-doping program.”

Furosemidi, meldonium, and tuaminoheptane were the WADA banned substances found in the fighters system ahead of his Hesinki bout prior to his Cage 39 fight.
