Swedish light heavyweight Karl Albrektsson (5-1) will return to action for Japanese promotion Rizin Fighting Federation as he takes part in the World Grand Prix for the second consecutive year.

After entering the tournament as a heavyweight in September 2016, the twenty-three year old was eliminated at the first hurdle of the competition, losing to current Bellator competitor Valentin Moldavsky by unanimous decision in September of last year.  It was the first loss for the Swedish fighter out of Pancrase Gym.

‘King’ Karl will return to his natural fighting weight of 205-pounds to face Lithuanian Teodoras Aukstuolis, who was also eliminated in the first round last year.

The Judo based fighter has a record of 10 wins and 4 losses, and lost in the 2015 Rizin Fighting Grand Prix in the second round to Muhammed Lowal.

The bout will go down on July 30th at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
