Swede Lina Eklund was victorious in her professional debut against Lithuanian Kristina Talvosaite in April’s Superior Challenge 7. As we learned in an interview prior to the bout, Eklund has gone from starring in gymnastics and body fitness prior to making the transition to professional MMA.
In an exclusive interview with MMA Viking, we learn more about the Swede’s pro debut, her future in MMA, and also her role as “Lynx” on Swedish Gladiators (Gladiatorerna).

MMA Viking : You seemed to steal the show at the last Superior Challenge with the way you dominated your opponent. The crowd loved your style. What did you think of your first professional MMA experience?
Eklund : I absolutely loved it! I had great fun while it was among the toughest I’ve done in my life.

MMA Viking : Pictures have been circulating of you being one of the Gladiators on the upcoming TV4 Sport show. When is the show returning, and when can we expect to see you on TV?
Eklund : Yes we have just recorded 12 programs of the Gladiators which will be broadcast sometime in the fall or winter, startup time is not yet official. The recording of the Gladiators has been an incredible experience and among the funniest thing I’ve done in my life. We are a group of extremely talented athletes and great people who have had great fun together. Meanwhile, TV4 and the production company Meter has done a great job with the production.

Inspelningen av gladiatorerna har varit en otrolig upplevelse och bland det roligaste jag gjort i mitt liv. Samtidigt har TV4 och produktionsbolaget Meter gjort ett perfekt arbete med att runt produktionen.
MMA Viking : Can you tell us about your character “Lynx” and what will be your specialty?
Eklund : My character is Lynx stadium tigress. A brute gladiator who sees the stadium as her territory and those that impinge she literally tears to pieces. Lynx with a tigress natural poise and restrained power. The animal in her is impatient and is constantly lurking behind her seductive eyes ready to leap, a leap that can crush even the strongest of opponents.
Min karaktär Lynx är arenans tigrinna. En djurisk gladiator som ser arenan som sitt revir och de som inkräktar sliter hon bildligt talat i stycken. Lynx för sig med en tigrinnas självklara pondus och återhållna kraft. Djuret inom henne är otåligt och ligger ständigt på lur bakom hennes förföriska ögon redo för språng, ett språng som kan krossa även den starkaste av motståndare.
MMA Viking : What’s next for your MMA career? Will we see you fight before October’s Superior Challenge 8?

Eklund : Right now the Superior Challenge 8 my next match is scheduled. I would like to get into a match in early September as well, we have checked a bit on that, but still nothing decided yet Superior Challenge 8 on the 28th October. I look forward to my next game and my goal is to offer an even better and more entertaining show than last time.
