John Olav Einemo will be the first Norwegian to enter the Octogan since Dan Evensen lost to Cheick Kongo at UFC 92 in December 2008.

On March 7th he signed a a six fight, two year contract with the UFC to fight in the heavyweight division. He is an addition to the UFC’s heavyweight division.

Entrance to Pride

Einemo has a professional MMA record of 6 wins with one loss. His only loss came to Fabricio Werdum at Pride 31 in February 2006. After a win in November 2006, Einemo left MMA. He was scheduled to returned to MMA in June 2010 to face Kresimir Bogdanovic in Serbia, but the fight was canceled.

Einemo was the first and to this date only fighter who has a win over Roger Gracie in the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship, when he beat Gracie in 2003. Einemo then beat Alexandre Ferreira to win the gold medal in the under 99 kg (under 218 lb) division. Gracie revenged his loss in the ADCC in 2007.

Einemo is a member of team Golden Glory, who also houses Marloes Coenen (Strikeforce women’s 135lb champion) and Alistair Overeem (Strikeforce heavyweight champion).
