Cage Warriors officials today announced matchups involving Finn Matteus Lähdesmäki, who will take on American Jim Alers, and Swede Diego Gonzalez who will face Ivan Buchinger of Slovakia on May 24th. The two Nordic fighters, along with Mats Nilsson, were signed to the promotion in February and look to keep Sweden and Finland on an extended promotion winning streak. Read the press release below:

Press Release :  CWFC Fight Night 6: Lahdesmaki v Alers, Gonzalez v Buchinger

ANOTHER two exciting bouts have been added to the card for CWFC Fight Night 6, which takes place in Bahrain on Thursday, May 24 and will be headlined by the meeting of Jesse Taylor and defending champion Gael Grimaud for the welterweight title.

Returning to Cage Warriors action in Bahrain will be Finnish 28-year-old Matteus Lahdesmaki (12-7-3), who’s currently in the top ten in the European featherweight rankings.

Lahdesmaki made an impressive debut for the organisation at CWFC Fight Night 3 in Beirut back in February when he submitted highly-rated Scot Graham Turner by rear-naked choke after just 2:19 of the first round.

His opponent on the sixth Cage Warriors show of 2012 will be US prospect Jim Alers (7-1-0), who’ll be appearing on a CWFC card for the first time since 2009.

The 25-year-old Florida native will be aiming for a fourth successive win and was included at #5 in Bloody Elbow’s World MMA Scouting Report in December.

Also confirmed for CWFC Fight Night 6 in just over three weeks’ time is an intriguing lightweight bout, with Sweden’s Diego Gonzalez (15-6-0) set to take on Ivan Buchinger (18-3-0) of Slovakia.

27-year-old Gonzalez is a veteran of four Cage Warriors bouts, the most recent of which saw him submit Ivica Truscek by guillotine in the second round at February’s CWFC 46 in Kiev.

Buchinger, 26, was on a six-fight winning streak until a decision loss to current UFC lightweight Anton Kuivanen last year.

There are still plenty of additions to be made to the CWFC Fight Night card, so keep track of Cage Warriors on Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and updates.
