“We regret to announce that Odyne X3M MMA on the 31st May 2014 in Karlshamn is CANCELLED” posted the new Swedish promotion on Facebook this week, cancelling the planned event two weeks prior to their planned show on May 31.

Svensson Planned His Summer Around the Bout in Karlshamn

Carlos Prada and Jonatan Westin from Allstars Training Center came back to the gym a day after hearing the news, explaining to teammates that their fight camp will not result in a bout. Still in a whirlwind about what’s next and how their summer’s plans were built around their fight, it was a mix of anger and frustration.  The promotion added :

“We postpone our plans for later this year. Despite the overwhelmingly positive response we have received from the media and the common man has for some reason we have not sold enough tickets early to ensure that it can be done. Above all, this is not just a money issue, but it’s simply not fair to our partners and fighters, many who would travel halfway around the world-that there would be 200 people trying to make themselves heard from the stands aimed for 2000. OF COURSE DO YOU ACTUALLY BOUGHT TICKETS REFUND FROM BILLETTO, and we want to take this opportunity to thank you for the enthusiasm, and apologize for the gala now not happen.”

The promotion had penned a few international bouts, brining in several Brazilians and Americans for Swedish opponents.

One key bout on the card was going to be the return of Jonathan “All Business” Svensson.  The Swede was set to continue his training at California’s Alpha Male camp, but instead focused his training locally at Pancrase Gym to prep for his upcoming bout in Sweden.

The card was also set to include prominent Swedish female fighters including Malmö Muay Thai’s Lina Akhtar Länsberg and GBG MMA’s Linn Wennergren.

“But do not count us out yet …!” finishes the promotions message.  Time will tell.
