Latifi Gets Yet Another Opponent

Press Release

The three-time Pan American BJJ champion Jorge Oliveira, steps in as Ilir Latifi’s new opponent at Superior Challenge 8, on October 6th at Malmö Arena, after DJ Linderman has been sued for a serious breach of contract.

DJ Linderman recently stated that he deliberately will commit a serious breach of contract and thus ignore the signed agreement that he has with Superior Challenge. His manager Will Hammond says he has counselled DJ not to, but there is nothing more he can do. The conscious breach of contract entails major complications for Superior Challenge, since Linderman was scheduled to compete for the organization’s first light heavyweight title in the main event of the evening.

Superior Group International’s lawyer John Knutsson filed a lawsuit against DJ Linderman on Friday September 14th, 2012.

The Black House fighter Jorge Oliveira steps in as opponent to Ilir Latifi. The BJJ black belt took the bout on a very short notice. The three-time Pan American champion in BJJ, and two-time Brazilian BJJ champion has also been the American organization PFC’s light heavyweight champion. He has wins over fighters such as Shonie Carter in WEC, Mike Van Arsdale, and James Irvin. The former Chute Boxe fighter is a complete fighter who is tough standing, and very technical on the ground, which makes him a dangerous contender for Superior Challenge’s light heavyweight title.

Babak Aghavali, CEO Superior Group International:

– DJ Linderman and his manager Will Hammond has put us in an incredibly difficult situation so close to our October 6th show. Drop-offs are very common in the fighting business, but I have never experienced a fighter who consciously violates a signed agreement. It’sincredibly unprofessional of both Linderman and his manager Hammond. Therefore, we decided that the only right thing to do is to proceed with this matter legally by a lawsuit. This will be a reminder for us about how incredibly important it is to work with professional and serious fighters and managers.

– We have had very bad luck with Ilir’s opponents, as they have dropped of from the card due to very strange reasons, but I can almost understand it. I wouldn’t want to fight Ilir either if I was a professional fighter and unsecure about my skills.

– We have now managed to secure a new opponent for Ilir through one of our reputable partners and thus booked Jorge Oliveira. Jorge is a qualified fighter with 20 years of experience in fighting. His list of qualifications speaks for itself, which makes him an incredibly dangerous contender for the title.
