Mads Burnell (18-5 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) beat veteran Daniel Weichel (42-15 MMA, 11-7 BMMA) at Bellator 299 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

Burnell lands good strikes and kicks to start the fight.  Mads gets taken down, then threatened with a front choke.  But, the black belt moves on top into half guard.  Weichel back to the feet looking to land a knee, but the forward pressure of the Dane is already tiring his more experienced opponent.  Oh, that left hook to the body.  Mads is landing and smiling as the first round comes to an end.

Mads just marching forward with his hands high landing hooks.  Oh, a one, two, three combo rocks Daniel.  But the German fighter lands a high kick then an elbow.  But Mads don’t care and moves forward.  Just no space… and punches to the face.  A spinning elbow from Daniel, but Mads just ignores it.  This is phone booth boxing at its best.  And the Dane is putting on a clinic, that takes another spinning backfist and sticks his tongue out to the crowd.  The volume from Burnell is insane.

The Dane heading into round 3 up big.  Mads with repeated kicks to the front calf.  In the tie-up, two elbows by the black belt.  Both fighters still with high volume of punches, can’t believe he is still standing.  Daniel taking punishment and dives in for a double-leg, but Mads counters and gets on top.  Another round in the books on the side of the Dane.

The scorecards read 29-28, 30-27, 30-27 all in favor of the winner Mads Burnell.
