Today the UFC announced that Ilir Latifi (8 wins, 3 losses, #2 Ranked Nordic) will now face Octagon newcomer Chris Dempsey (10 wins, 1 loss) instead of the injured Tom Lawlor (9-5). The fight will headline the prelims for the July 19th card in Dublin, Ireland.
Latifi last made short work of Cyrille Diabate bout at the UFC in London earlier in the year, in a rare bout without any striking. The Allstars Training Center fighter stopped the now retired fighter with a ruthless neck-cranking guillotine in the very first round.
Dempsey is a former heavyweight collegiate wrestler and 2-Time NCAA DII All-American at the University of Pittsburgh. The American is riding a 8 fight winning streak and fights out of Cold Steel MMA. He is 26 years old, and this will be his first bout outside of the USA. Most of his bouts have been in the local promotion Gladiator of the Cage promotion.
Other Nordic fighters Gunnar Nelson and Tor Troeng are on UFC Fight Night 46 card, which is headlined by Conor McGregor versus Diego Brandao.
