Mikael “Hulk” Silander (8-1), Flyweight, Finland

The young Finn is like his nickname suggests a ball of muscle for a flyweight. Silander relies on brute physicality and high paced grappling in his fights. ย Constant pressure on the opponents often opens up submission opportunities for Silander who has taken four of his career wins by submissions. In June of 2012 Silander dropped a close decision in a two round fight to highly regarded Russian Sambo champ Ali Bagautinov but quickly bounce back on the win column with a submission over American veteran Wade Choate at the Fight Festival 32 in October.

Silander’s best assets are his strength and grappling

Silander is still in development phase as a fighter and there are holes in his game but the Finn is a hard worker who trains at various different gyms in Finland and also had a training camp in the States in 2012. Currently the flyweight division in the UFC is far from stacked and that opens up an opportunity for a talent like Silander to get signed soon.
