Gunnar Nelson (15-2-1) has been looking for a fight and he might just get one.  Recently, the Nelson team revealed to MMAViking.com that Gunni’s ankle was healed and they were targeting a “March or April” return.  Within this timeline is the UFC in London card on March 18th and the camp would welcome the opportunity.

The recent announcement that the UK’s Jimi Manuwa and American Corey Anderson would top the card left many fans wanting a bit more star power.  Without an opponent a suitable opponent for European draw Alexander Gustafsson, Gunnar Nelson with a #10 ranking and huge fan following could get the call to help fill the void.

Yesterday, rumors began swirling about a matchup in the works between the Mjolnir fighter and Alan Jouban (15-4). The originator was @TalkMMA on Twitter, and the bout does make sense.

Jouban has also been looking for a big fight with a ranked fighter. “Brahma”, who has 6 wins and 2 losses in his UFC career is on a three fight winning streak just beat Mike Perry in December. “I’m ready to headline. Give me the rankings, put me in those rankings, and let’s headline some cards, man. I’m ready to do it.” said the fighter to MMAJunkie.com in his post fight interview.

The Iceland native has also won 6 of 8 fights in the Octagon. The 28-year-old was perfect in 2016 as he submitted Albert Tumenov at UFC Fight Night 87 event at Ahoy Rotterdam in Holland.  Nelson also won $50,000 as a bonus for his nasty neck crank finish.
