Nelson’s Mjölnir fighter’s camp told MMAViking.com a few weeks ago that Nelson was healthy and still targeting July’s UFC in Dublin card. “Dublin and Ireland is Gunnar’s home away from home, so to speak, and he really hopes he gets a good spot on that card.”  Nelson’s head coach John Kavanagh from SBG Gym in Ireland, has also campaigned to get Gunni on the card.

Nelson sports an undefeated 12 win, 0 loss, and 1 draw record and is ranked as the #1 welterweight the Nordics.  Nelson has been perfect in the Octagon so far, winning all three of his bouts.  Most recently the welterweight submitted Omari Akhmedov at last month’s UFC in London.  This was his return to the cage after a 13 month layoff due to an injured knee.

LaFlare is undefeated at 11 wins and 0 loses. He trains out of Long Island MMA and the Blackzilians. He has a 4 win and 0 loss record in the UFC.  The American last fought earlier this month, where he outpointed John Howard at UFC Fight Night – Minotauro vs. Nelson.  All of the 30 year old’s UFC bouts have gone the distance.

The UFC was last in Dublin in 2009 for UFC 93.
