The second European UFC event in 2012 is set to take place in Nottingham this Saturday.  The card is headlined by a five round heavyweight fight between Dutch giant Stefan Struve and American prospect Stipe Miocic. Sweden’s Akira Corassani and Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson are the two deputing Nordic fighters on the card. Here are our betting picks for the event.

Odds by the best bookie for the Nordic MMA fans:

Tom Watson vs Brad Tavares:  Tom “Kong” Watson has been among the top Euro middleweights for a long time now. The Brit is comes to this fight with wins over Jack Marshman, Ninja Rua and UK B-list celebrity Alex Reid. Tavares is 3-1 in the UFC with wins over Baroni, Baczynski and Dongi Yang who are all solid middleweights. Tavares has shown rapid improvement lately and we feel like he should be able to dictate the pace of this fight. So our pick is Tavares at 1.60

Jason Young vs Robert Peralta: Exciting match up between two technical strikers. Young is certainly skilled on the feet but lacks power to put guys away. We believe Peralta, who is an excellent striker, will get the better of the striking exchanges in this fight. Peralta at 1.95 sounds like a good bet.

Andy Ogle vs Akira Corassini: Former TUF participants clash in this featherweight bout. It’s been one and a half years since Corassani’s stint in TUF. The swede has since been training with Frankie Edgar and Renzo Gracie’s crew so it’s reasonable to expect that he has improved a ton during this time. Ogle was in TUF half a year ago and switched his training regime to Kaobon. We expected the line to be even for this fight so Akira at 2.33 is definitely worthy of a bet.
