Alexander Gustafsson looks destined to get the next title shot versus newly crowned 205-pound champion Daniel Cormier. “We’re actually looking at possibly Alexander Gustafsson” said president Dana White said on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight.
While it seemed that the outgoing Ryan Bader’s press conference outburst after Cormier’s UFC 187 victory could get him a spot, the Swede now is the top candidate in the UFC’s eyes.
There was no date or location mentioned for the bout. With Jon Jones out of the scene due to a suspension for out of Octagon offenses, Cormier and Anthony Johnson fought to determine the vacant 205-pound belt.

The Mauler would be getting a title shot off of a loss, which is rare in the UFC’s history. However it was Cormier that got his title showdown after a loss to the former champion Jones. Gustafsson, of course, lost in Sweden in the first round to “Rumble” Johnson in Sweden earlier in the year.
